Burgers anyone ??? ….ohh yes …I’d like one …and if its the one with Indian flavors like this “Quinoa Patties Burger”, bring me two …..
There is a funny story, that led me not to eat burgers for a very long time. The main reason was “How to eat it, without dropping it?” , or “How not open a big mouth in public and still be able to bite it “. I was so conscious. I am pretty sure many of you would have had that thought
Well, I love burgers and I am fond of both vegetarian and meat versions of it.
It just intrigues me, how many burger challenges are there, where either people eat or create new appetizing burger recipes. I can watch such burger challenges for hours at a stretch and off-course, the start of the next day’s meal is a burger, inspired by what I had seen the previous night 🙂
But let’s all admit, eating burger isn’t always that healthy, so I thought why not have a healthier version of it, and solely potato patties were out of question.
I had heard many good things about this grain “Quinoa” and how it was more beneficial than rice etc . So I thought let me give it a try , and started using it in salads etc …..One such recipe where I use Quinoa is already on the blog . Click here to know about that recipe. Next I thought why not make patties out of it, give it an Indian touch and create something really delicious . And that’s how I landed up with my “Quinoa Patties Burger”.
For the people in India, I did look up Quinoa on Amazon. In and was pleased to find it online …So if you had given up on this recipe, thinking that you may not find Quinoa easily in India, you still got luck . Just a disclaimer , I am not getting paid for recommending you Amazon.in online shopping, its just that I find it very convenient. For others, in North America, I know its very common and you would find it at any grocery store in grains section.
Raw Quinoa, needs to be boiled like rice and it gets doubled to almost tripled in quantity once cooked …so that means, we don’t need too much or the yield is pretty decent . In this recipe I used half a cup uncooked Quinoa to make 7 medium/big size burger patties …
There are so many options to explore with this Burger Patties recipe and usage …If you are watching out the calories , you can totally avoid the Bun and just use the patties on top of your favorite salad and dressing …
I usually make a big batch of them, and just warm it for less than a min in microwave before eating
When I make this vegetarian “Quinoa Patties Burger”, I like to top it up with Mayonnaise ,Cheese , some lettuce , tomatoes, cucumber ,onion, ketchup and my favorite green chutney that I shared earlier Click Here for the Green Chutney Recipe …….its and endless list of what all you can add to it ….
